12 Days of Christmas – Day 6

Today I have a card for you that looks incredibly complicated – but I promise you it’s not! I am going to share two versions of the card with you – a stepped up version and a version that we did for my December class at the Assisted Living Center. Let me start by giving you some details on the card first.

First you will need your basic card base which is a 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of paper scored in half at 4-1/4″ in a coordinating color to your DSP. I used a Basic White mat and dry embossed it for a bit a texture and added a Basic White insert to the inside of

To make the tree you will need to cut your DSP to the following sizes:
2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″
2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
2″ x 2″

This step you can either skip or if it makes it easier (like I did for my residents) is to turn your squares to a diagonally so they look like a diamond and score them at the following sizes to make each section of your tree:
2-3/4″ square: score at about 1-1/2″
2-1/2″ square: score at about 1-1/4″
2-1/4″ square: score at about 1″
2″ square: score at about 1″

I also punched a tree trunk in Pecan Pie using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch and cut it in half. I used Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a little bling. On my stepped up version I added a bit of texture to the tree trunk by drawing lines using the Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends. I also stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White and angled the ends with a sentiment in Merriest Trees using Cherry Cobbler ink.
