Jackie’s friend is moving away and she wanted to make him a card and let the class sign it. This is her creation.
It’s always hard when the retired lists come out. Some of my favorites will be riding off into retirement never to be heard from again. I’ll share more about that soon. It is important for you to take a look at these lists and order your favorite accessories now! I mean right now…they are as supplies last.
At the moment I am having a hard time getting the pdf files of the retired lists. You can visit my online store HERE to see all the retired products – many are 60% off!
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe we have to wait another 48 hours for the retired list, 2013 – 2014 catalog to be released to demonstrators, and for me to be able to preorder products from the new catalog! UGH…I don’t know how much longer I can hang on. What I can tell you is to be ready to purchase anything you may want off the retired lists as soon as it is published! Everything – but the stamp sets are while supplies last. Is it Wednesday yet?
I really do have to admit, at first when I saw these sets, I thought what the heck am I gonna do with them. Then I started to see all the creative ideas from my fellow demonstrators. So, I caved. Yep, I caved in a big way – bought the stamps and the punches. Just to make one card – THIS card. Crumb Cake and Night Quite Navy are my absolute new favorite color combination. Again, it was one of those, there is no way these colors are going to do anything for me; until I saw them together in person. Now, I can’t stop putting them together. Okay, back to the card. This card is perfect for just about any occasion – which is why I love SU! and how the create our stamps.
Introducing our new wood-mount stamp set packaging! These new cases are similar to our clear-mount boxes and fit perfectly on the shelf right next to them. They also have the images and stamp set name on the spine to make your search for the right set even easier.
After ordering all my Sale-a-bration stamps in wood by accident, I remembered how much I really love to hold that wood between my fingers. While some stamps are great in clear mount to see where you are going, with others it doesn’t really matter and from now on those will be in wood and sit pretty on my shelves along with the clear!
Oh, and the very best part – a template will be available for you to create a label for your wood mount sets in the old boxes. How great is that?

After months of testing and working with our vendor, Stampin’ Up! has been able to make some important changes!
Stampin’ Up! has accepted a formula with their supplier that shows improvement. The new formula has a reduced dye concentration that will allow it to better absorb into the cardstock. Reducing the concentration didn’t change the rich black color we all know and love; it only affects how the cardstock takes the ink.
What about drying time?
Because the ink absorbs better into the cardstock, it will dry in under a minute in some cases. It can take longer depending on the run of your cardstock and the age of your ink pad. If you are using an old ink pad, one of the refills with the improved formula will rejuvenate your pad. Also keep in mind that larger stamps or a more solid image may require a longer drying time.
What’s the deal with Whisper White Cardstock?
Stampin’ Up! initially discovered that our specification tolerance is too broad, meaning that there is a broad variance in ink absorption and drying time. Our Whisper White Cardstock is not a custom cardstock for Stampin’ Up! like our other cardstock colors, so we don’t have control over its tolerance. We have since requested that our supplier provide us with cardstock within a tighter range of tolerance. Still, our tests proved that the new ink formula works better on most, not all, of our Whisper White Cardstock. The performance of the ink depends on the run of the cardstock. It is not possible to tell when a packet of Whisper White Cardstock was produced. If you are concerned with the quality of your cardstock, we recommend using StazOn ink, instead of Basic Black.
What if I need to exchange or return my Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad?
If you have experienced problems with your Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad AND purchased it through me, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the lot# on the back of the pad (lower left), your name, address and original order number for replacement.
The Improved Basic Black Ink is NOW Available!
The improved Basic Black ink pad (#126980) and refill (#102512) are currently being sold. However, depending on the Whisper White Cardstock you are using, you may still experience smearing and high drying times. Stampin’ Up! recommends that you use StazOn instead of the Basic Black Classic ink pad.
Stampin’ Up! is pleased with the results so far. Not only has our Basic Black ink formula improved, but the testing process has also shown how to make improvements to the quality of our Whisper White Cardstock.
