October Card Class
I feel like I have lost my mojo with all that has happened the last few weeks. Being out of state for 3 weeks, did not help in planning for my October class and prepping for the Inky Fingers Crafty Retreat. While, I struggled with what we should do, I did get three cards put together.
I have to tell you how much I love the Gingham Cottage DSP. I mean how do you know love gingham. I really hope that this DSP carries over into the next catalog. I paired the yellow gingham with the Cottage Wreath bundle. This is bundle is so much fun and can be used for every single season. I can’t wait to play with it by making some Christmas cards – of course adding in some of the Gingham Cottage DSP. My first attempt used a plain Basic White piece of paper. I felt like it needed a bit more to step it up. I didn’t have a fall type embossing folder (crazy I know) so I used the Painted Posies 3D folder at an angle to add a bit of texture. I think it did just the trick that was needed. I finished the card up with a few sequin gems and lien thread.
I promised my card makers that we would make at least one Christmas card a month from July through December. While most folks would never use Pacific Point, Polished Pink and these bright fun colors for Christmas – I really love it! Spruced Up bundle has some super fun images and dies that go so well with this paper. This is a fun fold card which means the very center panel where the ornament is flips up for the inside message. The best part is that you don’t have to write a whole long message. You can also attach a gift card to the inside flap which makes this the perfect card to send as a greeting or to use as a gift. Who doesn’t love diversity in how we use our cards.
Our third project was a monochromatic card using a punch bundle. We used the Let’s Set Sail bundle to create this quick card. We used Basic Black and Basic Gray ink and paper. We did stamp off (mean stamp onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping onto your project) to give the water a little more of a reflective look. There were two tips shared while making this card. The first, punch your image out of the mat piece of paper. Our sail boat was punched out of the black mat you see behind the Basic White focal piece. You don’t even know it! The second tip is to use our notecards. The cards are a hair smaller than a normal size card – but you get a pack of 20 cards and envelopes – which make the perfect and quick card.
