A note from my heart

With a renewed energy and spirit, I am so excited to be writing this post.  For the first time in five years, I have a plan, a goal, and oh my goodness is it within reach!  Six years have passed since I joined the Stampin’ Up! family to purchase the product, for myself as a hobby demonstrator at a discount (who does not love a discount?) never thinking of making a career.

Over the last six months, I have begun to set a plan in motion – sharing what I love to do.  My plan is really more a mission; a mission to share what I love, by creating handmade gifts from the heart to be shared by others.  I have already begun this first step by holding monthly stamping clubs where we come together and create at least three projects.   If you have not joined us before, you really are missing out!  We laugh, share, eat, create and laugh some more.

Inkyfingrsstamping.com has also been created as a place for me to share ideas, tips, tricks, and other news or information.  Inky Fingers Stamping team meetings have been planned and will be a place for us to meet share business tips, learn a new techniques to share with our customers and friends, to laugh, share, create and laugh some more.  These gatherings will be open to anyone on my Inky Fingers Stamping team whether you are a hobby demonstrator or if you are wanting build a solid business.

In order to see my mission succeed, your assistance is needed.  Although, I have the total support of my family – I cannot do this without you.  YOU are the crucial piece of my plan needed to succeed.  I specially choose the month of February to publicly launch and share my plan of success due to the fantastic opportunities Stampin’ Up! has extended over the next 60  days.

In order to reach my goal, I am asking you to take a look at your calendar for the month of February and see if you have a date we can get together with a few of your friends to laugh, share, and create.  As a bonus to you and your friends, for every $50 purchases (before tax and S/H) you will be able to choose a FREE item from the Sale-A-Brations catalog.   As a hostess (or a single ordered) at $150 you can earn hostess benefits of additional FREE product, the CUTEST dang shopping bag and a special gift from me.

I have also implemented an Inky Fingers Stamping reward program.  After earning ten tokens, you will receive a FREE stamp set of ANY value as a way for me to say thank you for your continued support.  Earning reward tokens is easy; earn one token for every $50.  To say thank you for helping me to a solid start to success, I will give you TWO tokens for any order you place between January 29th and February 15th.

As my friend, I appreciate the continued support you have given to me over the years and the support you will continue to give me.  It is because of you, I am able to take this next step and know I will be successful in my path.

Happy Creating!

Tips and Tricks: New Paper Doily Sizzlits Die

Tips and Tricks for the New Paper Doily Sizzlits Die

With the Paper Doily Sizzlits Die (item 125592) you can now create the intricate designs you’ve grown to love with our Sizzlits Dies, in a new, larger size. Some of you have asked questions about the die and we’re here to help answer those questions.

A few tips and tricks:

  • Because of variations in materials, you will most likely need to use a shim (such as piece of card stock) when you send it through the Big Shot.
  • The detailed intricacy comes with a little added work. The negative pieces will not come out automatically when you cut the die.
    • It may take a little time to remove all the cut pieces from the die-cut paper. Remove the pieces by poking or punching them out. Carefully, push the pieces through the cut design and remove them from the back. Make sure you work from the front side of the doily (the side that was face-down when it was cut) and push the pieces through; if you try to pull them out from the front or if you push them through from the back side, the doily might tear. To make it easier, gently roll the die-cut paper to pop out some of the larger pieces.
    • Push the pieces out using the Paper-Piercing Tool or the small end of the Simply Scored Stylus.
    • The front side will look completely cut through, however, the back side may not. This is normal with this die, and if you follow the directions of removing the small pieces you will find that the die has cut through the paper.
  • Because of the intricate design of this die, small pieces might stick in the foam on the actual die. Clear all small pieces from the die before using it again. This will ensure you get a clean cut every time. Remove the remaining pieces by using your Paper-Piercing Tool, being careful not to tear the foam on the die.

Happy Birthday Sweet Shop

I’m sorry for the delay in posting updates over the last week or so.  I spent the 14th – 16th in Olympia lobbying our Legislature for education on behalf of the Public School Employees of Washington.  We worked hard over the three day period – braving the worst snow we have seen in years.  The snow continued through the week.  We were lucky to only lose power on and off for the last week.  We have many friends who have been without power for a week.

I have to tell you, I love the entire Sweet Shop product suite.  It is just so YUMMY!  The papers, the stamps, the decor elements, the stickers, the brads.  Do I really need to say more?  I created this card with inspiration from our Occasions Mini for our January Inky Fingers Stamp Camp.  What I love most about this card is how well it can be used for an adult or child.  It’s just a simple, quick, and fun card to share.

TIPS:

  • Pool Party card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
  • Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper was cut to 4″ x 2 1/2″.
  • Whisper White is cut to 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″

Stamp Set:  Sweet Cake (W125490, C125492)
Paper:  Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper (125408), Pool Party, Red Glitter Paper

Sharing the WORD

Have you have sat in church or heard a song that really touched your spirit?  Sunday, we sang the song “Mighty to Save”.  My God is mighty to save.  Of all the lyrics in the song, my God is might to save are the words that sank into my heart.  I’ll be real honest, I’ve walked away from God, and starting to find my way back to his side over the last few months.  I have been ashamed and embarrassed to reach out to my my God and say I’m sorry for turning my back on you and disappointing you until I heard this song.  My God, he wants to save me, regardless of my past mistakes.  What a great Dad he is.  Thanks heavenly father for loving all of me – not just the good parts!

Sneak Peak Stamp Camp – You’re My Type

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I receive a monthly magazine that’s full of creative ideas.  In this month’s issue, I saw the typewriter from the “You’re My Type” stamp set available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The more I see this set, the more I fall in love with it.  It’s just so dang clever.

“You’re My Type” stamp set offers a bold typewriter stamp that can “roll” vintage or modern.  The sentiments are both charming and versatile for many occasions.  This is my spin on a card I CASED (copied or inspiration) from another demonstrator named Mary.

 TIPS:

  • Coverage can be tricky with a large solid stamp like the typewriter.  Use a Blender Pen and ink to touch up any areas where ink doesn’t transfer perfectly.  Layer a bit at a time as you fill in.
  • Each strip of Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper was cut to 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • I used a Circle Scissor Plus and Glass Mat to create the large circles.  Whisper White diameter 3 1/4″.  Riding Hood Red diameter 3 1/2″.
  • Tie things up with Island Indigo Baker’s Twine (CONFESSION – I love baker’s twine).

Tool Tips – Punching on Scraps

You can use your scraps and still center your stamped image by simply using a Post-It-Note “handle,” thus enabling you to extend your reach as you punch.  Take scrap of card stock and stamp as desired.

Attach a Post-It-Note to one end of scrap. Feed into punch and center. Punch out image. Voila! You have a perfectly centered and punched image using only a scrap of card stock. Don’t throw away those small card stock pieces! Punch them into shapes of your choice.
