Moon Baby

There have been a few people getting married in our lives – so naturally babies come to my mind.  I sat down once again to play with the new Stampin’ Blends our alcohol based markers.  I created a few cards – boy – girl – neutral (meaning we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl).  This is a great set to use to “color” because of the line art.

One little tip – the more you “color” with the ivory the darker the skin tone becomes.  We also carry a bronze skin tone which will be the next marker I play with!

No Bones About It

RAWR!   No Bones about It is a fun set for kids of any age.  It was fun to sit down and play with this set and use our embossing paste as a fun texture.  Our embossing paste is white.  By using reinker you can change the color – like I did here to Garden Green.  I cut all the sentiments apart after I used white embossing powder on the black paper.

The Best Wine

Who would have thought using the same stamp set twice!  I mentioned on my last post that I had a little technique to share with you using this set – making the glass look half full (get it?  the name of the stamp set – half full).

RedWine1It’s so easy to do!  You want to use your fine tip glue pen and “color” in the image you want to shine.  Set it aside for about 30 minutes or so to dry!  It’s a pretty neat effect that is hard to see in the picture.  I also used shimmer paper on the wine bottle that I fussy cut.  I used our new blends to color in the images.

We Improve With Age

I’ve had this set sitting on the shelf for quite awhile.  I’m not really a wine drinker – I got it because I loved one image – “Merry Christmas”.  It was fun to sit down and use a set that I really wasn’t sure about.  I’ve got some other ideas brewing in my head – wait that’s coffee – I’ve got some other ideas fermenting in my head and a few techniques that I want to share with you using this set.

Christmas Snow

I’ve really been afraid, to do the eclipse technique.  Thankfully, my friend Bree had a very similar card at her card class a few weeks ago that I was able to attend.   It was really a simple card to do!

I embossed and stamped the whisper white piece first.  Here’s a little tip I would stamp first then emboss – but make sure the stamped images are facing up and that the Stampin’ Up! logo is facing up when you run it through the big shot.  Just a little tip 🙂

Once I did that, I cut out the letters S-N-O-W.  I did use little stickies just to keep them in place.  I used mini Dimensionals to lift up the letters and offset them just a bit.

Merry Christmas 1

Sending thanks

We needed to make another stack of thank you cards – looks like we will be spending the weekend making another stack too.  This time, Jackie used the Stampin’ Blends to color in the globe image from the Going Far stamp set.   The deal we made was she embossed the paper, stamped and colored the images and I would cut the images out.  I think she got a better deal!

This was the first time Jackie used the blends.  She is 15 so she is old enough to use “Mom’s good markers”.   She used a few different color combinations and then finally settled on the blue.  I explained that I wasn’t the best with shading and needed to really take a class on how to best use alcohol style makers.  We did watch the the Stampin’ Up! video on blending.  After a few practices she began to feel a little more comfortable on using the light and dark markers.

Due to the amount of cards we send a month, we have been using the note cards – they are a bit smaller than a standard card – but the simplicity of having a pre-cut and scored card with envelope has been super handy!

Beachy Christmas

A few weeks ago, we were in Walla Walla with my daughter.  Part of her duties are to make an official visit to each chapter in the state.  I was so happy to learn that my friend Bree was having a stamp class while we were in town!  I was able to go to class and stamp.  It was so refreshing to spend some time stamping while away for the weekend.

We used the new Stampin’ Blends to color in the images on the Beachy Christmas set.  I love how fun this set is.  Yes, it is in our Holiday catalog and displayed in the Christmas section – but honestly – I don’t think is set is strickly for Christmas!  I have “Christmas” lights up year round on my porch and motor home (okay so I do change the color out whenever I want).

Just want to throw this out there too about our Stampin’ Blends.  I was a skeptic too about the new markers.  I remember the old ones and some of the manufacturing issues we had.  Let me tell you, I love, love, love these new Blends.  I can’t seem to find a single flaw – and trust me – I’m looking.
